Day 1 -- 2/19/05: Medieval, Arms and Armor

I’m back-dating the blog to 2005, when we came to New York with our son, Nathan, and a friend. We asked what they wanted to see, and the answer was medieval. The Met has an impressive collection in its main building, and much more at the separate Cloisters. The boys were particularly interest in the arms and armor collection. The Met has the nation’s largest such collection, and ironically Nathan would later live in Worcester, near the Higgins Armory Museum, which housed the second largest collection. (The Higgins closed at the end of 2013 and its collection is being transferred to the Worcester Art Museum.) We also saw a few of the American paintings galleries.
