Day 13 – 5/12/13: 19th Century European Paintings (end)

After a family event in Connecticut the previous day, we came to New York for the afternoon. Bev and I had seen the first half of the 19th Century European Paintings many visits ago, but this was the first time we had enough time together to complete the section. We saw an impressive collection of works by Manet and Monet, Cezanne, Gauguin, Van Gogh, as well as early 20th Century works by Matisse and Picasso.

We expected these paintings to be our reliable favorites, but I was particularly captivated by the later galleries with Cezanne, Van Gogh, and early Picasso. These galleries lead seamlessly into the Modern section as the 20th Century begins.

Cezanne, House w/Crooked Walls

Van Gogh, Irises

Picasso, Head of a Woman
