Introduction

During our visits to New York, we often came to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. We would usually see special exhibits and, if we had time and energy left, wander somewhat randomly through some permanent collections.

In 2010 as we started coming more frequently, I decided to see the museum in a more organized manner. At some point I set the goal of seeing everything in the museum, assuming it would take three or four days. As I write this, we’ve been there on 18 different days, although many have been partial days -- and still have several large sections to complete.

I recently decided to recount my impressions so far, then update going forward.
