Day 5 – 12/26/10: Greek (start)

The original Olympics gave winners prize amphoras like this depicting the relevant sport
We divided our day between the Met and the nearby Frick Collection, taking advantage of our new MFA reciprocal membership to come and go as we wished. We began the Greek and Roman section with the earliest period, just beyond the museum's Great Hall.

We've been to Greece twice, so the displays were particularly interesting. We viewed countless painted vases, each telling a particular story about Greek life or legend.

At the end of the day, we had seen 2 galleries out of 27, and I realized it just was not practical to examine every item and read every caption, as one might with large paintings.
